An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled professional seeking to make a meaningful impact in a middle school setting. This contract position in Jamaica, NY, as a School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist, focuses on providing essential services to students with speech and language needs.
Location: Jamaica, NY
Schedule: Four days a week, 8 AM - 3 PM
Key Responsibilities:

Assessment & Evaluation:
- Conduct speech and language screenings and comprehensive evaluations to determine eligibility for services under IDEA or Section 504.
- Interpret evaluation results and compile detailed reports.

Therapy & Intervention:
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans, providing direct services to students in one-on-one or small group settings.
- Monitor and document student progress towards IEP goals.

IEP Development & Participation:
- Actively participate in IEP meetings, contributing to the development of appropriate goals and accommodations.
- Provide input on service delivery models and placements.

Collaboration:
- Collaborate with educators, special education staff, and families to support student needs.
- Consult with teachers to integrate speech and language goals into the general education curriculum.

Compliance & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Document student progress and needs as required.

Prevention & Education:
- Offer workshops and in-services for staff and families on communication disorders and prevention strategies.
- Assist in the early identification of students at risk for communication disorders.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
- Current NYS license and certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Experience working in a school setting, particularly with middle school-aged students.
- Strong assessment, evaluation, and report writing skills.
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs effectively.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
