A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available at an elementary school in Hartford, CT, offering a hands-on, in-person role from December through March, with potential for extension. This contractual assignment supports children’s speech, language, and communication needs within a collaborative educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments to determine eligibility for special education services, including participation in multidisciplinary Planning and Placement Team evaluations.
- Develop and deliver individualized therapy plans focusing on articulation, phonology, language skills, social communication, fluency, voice, resonance, and augmentative & alternative communication (AAC).
- Maintain thorough documentation of services, progress reports, and compliance with IDEA and CSDE standards.
- Collaborate closely with educators, specialists, and families to foster effective communication strategies and provide training on language development and AAC.
- Engage in early intervention efforts, including screening and Response to Intervention (RTI)/Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) initiatives to support speech-language and communication before special education referrals.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, maintain licensure and certifications, and contribute to IEP meetings and annual reviews.
Qualifications:
- Certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA CCC-SLP).
- Eligible or currently completing the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
- Current Connecticut Department of Public Health licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Valid Connecticut educator certification with the appropriate endorsement (#061).
- Familiarity with IDEA, Section 504, and state education department requirements.
- Strong communication, assessment, and intervention skills tailored to elementary-age students.
Schedule & Location:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week aligned with school hours, 8:20 AM to 3:40 PM.
- Onsite position exclusively, fostering direct student and staff interaction.
