A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) opportunity is available in an elementary school setting located in Middletown, MD. This contract position spans the full school year and offers the chance to work alongside a second full-time SLP in a collaborative environment. The role involves servicing a diverse caseload, including students who are non-verbal, within a committed and dedicated educational staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing evaluations to identify student needs.
- Provide individual and group therapy targeting articulation, expressive/receptive language, pragmatics, fluency, voice, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) interventions.
- Support literacy through language-based interventions.
- Participate actively in IEP team meetings to develop measurable goals and provide regular progress updates.
- Collaborate closely with educators, special education personnel, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and families to foster student success.
- Consult with school staff on effective communication strategies to support students in the classroom.
- Complete thorough documentation including evaluation reports, service plans, and progress monitoring while adhering to IDEA and MSDE regulations.
- Ensure delivery of services in the least restrictive environment and across varied educational settings.
- Maintain professional licensure and comply with Maryland state standards and ASHA certification requirements.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland SLP licensure.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Experience working with school-aged children, specifically in elementary settings.
- Ability to address the needs of non-verbal students and utilize AAC devices.
