Providing speech-language therapy services within an elementary school setting, this role supports students from pre-kindergarten through kindergarten. The position offers a dynamic opportunity to make a measurable impact on children's communication and developmental skills throughout the school year contract.
Responsibilities include delivering direct speech therapy focused on areas such as assistive technology, augmentative communication, social language, articulation, voice, oral-motor function, feeding, and receptive and expressive language delays. The role involves conducting diagnostic evaluations, preparing detailed and insightful reports, and developing individualized education program (IEP) objectives tailored to each student’s needs. Collaboration is essential, working closely with parents and school staff to ensure effective communication and support for student progress.
Key Qualifications:
- Possession of or eligibility for Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) certification and a teaching certificate from the Connecticut Department of Education (DOE).
- Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) certification including SLP-CCC, SLP-CFY, or SLPA with school experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to address diverse student needs and changing circumstances.
- Previous experience in school settings is advantageous but not required.
Position Details:
- Location: New Britain, CT
- Serving two elementary schools
- Schedule: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- 35 hours per week
- Contract duration: Immediate start through June 10, 2025 (students begin August 28)
- In-person role supporting students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten
