A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) opportunity is available for the upcoming school year at an elementary school in Thurmont, MD. This contract position is ideal for a dedicated professional passionate about supporting young learners with diverse communication needs, including students who are non-verbal. The school features a collaborative environment with a second full-time SLP, fostering teamwork and comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations for speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing to identify student needs.
- Provide individual and group therapy addressing articulation, expressive/Receptive language, pragmatics, fluency, voice, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
- Support literacy development through language-based interventions.
- Collaborate with IEP teams to develop goals, deliver progress reports, and contribute to service plans.
- Work alongside teachers, special educators, psychologists, occupational and physical therapists, and families to ensure student success.
- Maintain thorough documentation, including evaluation reports, IEP documentation, and progress monitoring.
- Adhere to IDEA guidelines and Maryland SLP licensure requirements, ensuring services in the least restrictive environment.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Maryland state licensure as an SLP.
- Familiarity with ASHA standards and IDEA compliance.
- Experience working in a school setting, preferably with elementary-aged students.
- Ability to provide AAC interventions and support students with complex needs.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with educators and families.
- Commitment to professional development and maintaining licensure credentials.
