Your expertise will make a direct impact, working with a caseload of 30 students in special education across Kindergarten through 3rd grade. You’ll collaborate with educators and families at both Orchard View Early Elementary and Cardinal Elementary, fostering an environment where every child can thrive.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid licensure as a School Social Worker in Michigan
- Demonstrated experience in schools and/or healthcare settings as a social worker
- Background supporting K-3 students, particularly those with diverse or special education needs
- Strong understanding of IEP processes, documentation, and compliance
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic educational environments
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social work services and counseling to a caseload of special education students
- Conduct assessments and contribute to multidisciplinary teams to support student IEPs
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to address students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Develop and implement intervention strategies that promote positive outcomes and inclusion
- Serve as a resource for crisis intervention and referrals as appropriate
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation according to school and state requirements
