Special Education Teacher in Alexandria, VA

An exciting opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support students from kindergarten through 12th grade during an Extended School Year (ESY) program in Alexandria, VA. This contract position runs from July 7 to August 1, with preparatory days earlier in the month.

Qualifications:

• Active Virginia Special Education teaching license is required
• Experience working with diverse learners across elementary to secondary levels
• Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and staff

Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students’ individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Engage students in learning activities that promote growth in academic and social skills
• Monitor and document student progress throughout the program
• Collaborate with other educators to ensure a cohesive educational experience

Location and Schedule:

• Alexandria, VA
• Contract duration: July 7 – August 1
• Daily hours: 5 hours for elementary students; 5.5 hours for secondary students
• Prep days: July 1, 2, and half-day on July 3
