A Special Education Teacher position is available for an elementary school serving students primarily in 2nd through 4th grade. This contract role focuses on delivering specialized instruction within a classroom setting tailored to children with mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities, including emotional disabilities. The position operates under the Nexus Program, designed to support individualized education and behavioral needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction to students with primary and emotional disabilities.
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with IEP goals for students aged approximately 7-10 years.
- Collaborate with a team of three paraprofessionals to ensure effective classroom management and student support.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation to meet program and compliance standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports diverse learning styles and needs.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching credential.
- Experience working with mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities in a classroom setting.
- Familiarity with behavioral programs and support frameworks, particularly suited for emotional disabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with para-educators and other educational staff.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Work Schedule and Setting:
- Contract role for the contracted school year.
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
- Classroom size ranges between 2-8 students, with a maximum of 10.
