An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to support a life skills classroom at a high school located in Augusta, ME. This position is for the 2025/2026 school year and is a contract assignment. The role requires in-person teaching and offers a manageable caseload of four students, with paraeducator assistance provided in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to the needs of students in a life skills classroom setting.
- Collaborate with paraeducators to support student learning and classroom management.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with diverse needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
Qualifications:
- Valid Maine 282 Special Education Teaching certification is required.
- Experience working with high school students in a life skills or similar special education environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with paraeducators and families.
