Special Education Teacher in Bridgeport, CT

A Special Education Teacher position is available in a middle school self-contained SEL program serving 5 students. This contract role is based in Watertown, CT and encompasses a full school year (CSY) commitment. The daily schedule runs from 7:30 AM to 2:40 PM.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ social-emotional learning and academic needs
• Providing instruction and support to middle school students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting
• Collaborating with staff, families, and specialists to promote student progress and well-being
• Maintaining accurate records and documenting student performance and behavior
• Adapting teaching strategies and materials to meet diverse learning needs

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience working in self-contained classrooms, preferably with middle school students
• Knowledge of social-emotional learning strategies and behavior management techniques
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
