This position seeks a Special Education Teacher to support a life skills classroom in a high school setting for the 2025-2026 school year. The role requires working in person with a small caseload of four students, offering specialized instruction and support to meet their individual educational needs. Paraeducator support is provided within the classroom to assist with daily activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students with diverse learning needs in a life skills curriculum.
- Collaborate with paraeducators and educational staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in alignment with state and federal guidelines.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with families and administration.
Qualifications:
- Maine 282 certification in Special Education is required.
- Experience working with high school students in a life skills or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, best practices, and curriculum adaptations.
- Ability to work effectively with paraeducators to support student growth.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
