A full-semester contract position is available for a Special Education teacher to support a high school program focused on behavior and cross-categorical needs. This onsite role is located in Burnsville, MN, serving students primarily identified with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) while addressing a wide range of special education categories.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with students who require behavioral interventions and support. Strong problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of behavior strategies are essential to effectively meet the diverse needs of this student population in a site-based high school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) focused on behavioral and academic goals
- Employ evidence-based behavioral strategies to support students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders and other disabilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including counselors and support staff, to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed to promote positive outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate regularly with families and school personnel
Qualifications:
- Minnesota teaching license with endorsements in one or more of the following areas:
- Special Education: Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Special Education: Developmental Disabilities
- Special Education: Early Childhood
- Special Education: Emotional Behavioral Disorders
- Special Education: Learning Disabilities
- Academic & Behavioral Strategist License (optional but beneficial)
- Proven experience working with students with behavioral challenges in a secondary education setting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work onsite at the designated high school location throughout the contract period
