A Special Education Teacher position is available to support a middle school sub-separate classroom serving 8th-grade students with intellectual disabilities in Central Falls, RI. This contract role, spanning the current school year, offers the opportunity to work with a small caseload of four students, fostering individualized instruction and close collaboration with support staff and related service providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized instruction to students with intellectual disabilities, addressing their unique learning needs
  • Collaborate closely with support staff, therapists, and other team members to develop and implement effective educational plans
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to support academic and social growth
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with families and district personnel
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and development

Qualifications:

  • Valid Rhode Island Moderate (grades 5–12) or Severe Special Education Teaching License required; out-of-state licenses will be considered
  • Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities at the middle school level preferred
  • Strong commitment to individualized education and teamwork
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Location: Central Falls, Rhode Island
Duration: Current school year contract
