This opportunity within the K-12 public school system in Chapel Hill, NC, is designed for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with severe disabilities. This contract position spans from January 5, 2026, to May 22, 2026, offering a focused, impactful teaching experience during the current school year.

Location:

  • Chapel Hill, North Carolina
  • K-12 public school setting

Position Highlights:

  • Full-time role: Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 10 students
  • Work with students ranging across all K-12 grade levels
  • Support learners with severe disabilities including ASD, non-verbal communication challenges, difficult behaviors, and developmental delays

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Active North Carolina teaching license in Adaptive Curriculum - Cross-Categorical (Special Education) required
  • Experience in educating students with varying severe disabilities highly preferred
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Patience, creativity, and commitment to student success

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized instructional programs tailored to each student's needs
  • Collaborate with fellow special education professionals to create a supportive learning environment
  • Monitor and document student progress accurately
  • Communicate regularly with families and support staff to ensure consistent care and interventions
