This position seeks dedicated Special Education Teachers to support diverse K-12 classrooms within Charleston, SC. The contract runs from ASAP through May 29, 2026, offering full-time hours Monday through Friday. Candidates will provide specialized instruction and support for students with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and other exceptionalities in multiple school settings.

Opportunities are available for five Special Education Teachers across various sites including North Charleston, West Ashley, and Liberty Hill Academy. Placements include:

  • Low Incidence Classroom Teachers (North Charleston and West Ashley)
  • Intensive Developmental Support Classroom Teachers (North Charleston and West Ashley)
  • A specialized classroom at Liberty Hill Academy serving students with intellectual disabilities and autism, supported by a teaching assistant, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and on-site Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students’ unique learning needs.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and support positive student behavior.
  • Collaborate with support staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain accurate records and assessments to monitor student progress.
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet state standards and IEP goals.

Qualifications:

  • Active South Carolina Special Education teaching license required; multi-categorical licensure preferred.
  • Experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder highly desired.
  • Comfort working in challenging classroom environments, especially those serving students with intellectual disabilities.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

This is an on-site contract role with a commitment to improving educational outcomes for students with special needs. Specific school assignments will be confirmed upon placement.
