A full-time special education position is available for the contract period of November through February in the Chicago, Illinois area. This role focuses on providing dedicated support within an elementary self-contained classroom primarily serving students with Autism. The classroom maintains a small group setting with approximately seven students, allowing for personalized instruction and meaningful educational progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and adapt curriculum for Math and Reading tailored to individual student needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Deliver specialized instruction in a self-contained elementary classroom environment
  • Collaborate with educational staff to ensure consistent support for students’ academic and social growth
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to progress reports

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Special Education Teacher with experience in Life Skills instruction
  • Experience working with students diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder
  • Strong skills in curriculum implementation and IEP writing
  • Ability to manage a small classroom and provide individualized attention
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Location:

  • Near Itasca, Illinois, serving an elementary public school in the Chicago metropolitan area.
