Special Education Teacher in Cicero, IL

A Nonpublic Therapeutic Day School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to elementary students in a contract position for the current school year (CSY). This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a skilled, multidisciplinary team within a supportive and structured environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
• Collaborating effectively with a team of seven paraprofessionals, related service providers, and school administration
• Delivering academic instruction and behavioral support based on evidence-based practices
• Maintaining ongoing communication with families and external agencies to support student progress
• Engaging in professional development opportunities and participating in staff meetings to enhance teaching strategies and team collaboration

Qualifications:

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement is required
• Previous experience in therapeutic or special education settings is preferred
• Strong skills in classroom management and teamwork to foster a positive and productive learning environment
