An elementary school is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to provide resource support primarily for first-grade students, with some support to second graders. This contract position follows the local district’s school calendar and offers an anticipated assignment through June 2, 2026.

Location:

  • Vernon Hills, IL (Aspen Elementary School)

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and resource support to students with special needs in grades 1 and 2
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in team meetings regarding student development
  • Support students’ social and emotional growth within the classroom setting

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in early grades
  • Knowledge of special education laws, individualized education planning, and instructional techniques
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Work Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 7:30 AM – 3:15 PM
