Located in the heart of St. Paul, MN, this special education teaching opportunity supports students grades K-12 within a charter school setting. The role focuses on instructing students in Setting 2/3 EBD (Emotional and Behavioral Disorders) and OHD (Other Health Disabilities) with a manageable caseload and a supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver classroom instruction in Foundations Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, and Transitions across five daily periods.
- Manage small class sizes, typically with 3-4 students alongside a paraeducator, ensuring differentiated support tailored to special education needs.
- Address behavioral challenges primarily related to attitude, language, work refusal, and classroom engagement, with structured support and teamwork.
- Collaborate closely with paraeducators and support staff to create a nurturing, effective learning environment.
- Maintain and manage a caseload of approximately eight students with EBD, OHD, and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).
- Adhere to daily work hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., ensuring consistent availability for students and team collaboration.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid special education teaching certification.
- Experience working with students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) and Other Health Disabilities (OHD).
- Ability to deliver instruction across multiple subject areas within a special education framework.
- Strong classroom management skills with a focus on positive behavioral support.
- Commitment to collaboration and teamwork within a multidisciplinary educational setting.
- Experience with small group instruction and individualized education programs (IEPs).
