A full-time special education teacher is needed from November through February to support an elementary self-contained classroom near Itasca, IL. This contract role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to approximately seven students, primarily those with Autism, in a small, focused learning environment. The position offers guaranteed weekly hours and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to student success in Math and Reading.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction in Math and Reading aligned with established curriculum
  • Implement and write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support each student’s unique needs
  • Manage and operate a self-contained classroom setting, emphasizing life skills and special education strategies
  • Collaborate with support staff to provide comprehensive educational support
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional techniques to enhance learning outcomes

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience as a Life Skills Teacher or Special Education Teacher with a focus on elementary-aged students
  • Proven ability to implement and manage IEPs effectively
  • Strong understanding of Autism spectrum disorders and related educational strategies
  • Ability to work in a small classroom setting, adapting instruction to diverse learning needs
  • Commitment to maintaining a supportive and structured classroom environment

Location:

  • Elementary school program located near Itasca, IL
