A middle school special education teaching opportunity is available within a K-12 setting focused on supporting students with Severe Cognitive Impairment (SCI). This contract position runs through the current school year with an expected end date in early June 2026. The role offers 35 hours per week in a structured classroom environment designed to meet the unique learning needs of students requiring intensive support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with severe cognitive impairments, adapting curriculum and teaching methods to facilitate individual learning.
  • Implement behavioral interventions and support positive student outcomes using techniques aligned with CPI training principles.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and support staff, to develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate effectively with families and school personnel.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification.
  • Experience working in severe cognitive impairment or similar special education settings.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training or demonstrated ability to manage behavioral challenges effectively.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to engage middle school-aged students with diverse learning needs.
