This full-time Special Education teaching opportunity is ideal for professionals with experience supporting students with autism and related challenges. The position is based in Grayslake, IL, at a therapeutic day school serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The role spans the current school year through May 27, 2026, offering a contract of 35 hours per week.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to students with autism and autistic-like characteristics.
- Managing behavioral challenges, including aggression and self-harm tendencies, utilizing district-provided support resources.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Monitoring and documenting student progress and adjusting instructional strategies accordingly.
- Creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic learning environment.
Desired qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education teaching license and Professional Educator License (PEL).
- Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders in K-12 settings.
- Strong skills in behavioral management and therapeutic educational approaches.
