A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available at a K-12 school in Hartford, CT, for the upcoming school year on a contract basis. This role focuses primarily on self-contained intensive education classrooms serving K-6 students, with an emphasis on grades 5-6.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students in a self-contained classroom setting.
- Implement Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Instruction (DTI), and autism-specific educational strategies.
- Manage a classroom of 8 to 10 students with intensive educational needs.
- Collaborate closely with 6 paraprofessionals to support individualized student goals.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse learning requirements.
Qualifications:
- Certification and experience as a Special Education Teacher.
- Background in ABA, DTI, and working with students on the autism spectrum.
- Ability to lead and manage a dynamic classroom environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals and school staff.
Work Schedule and Location:
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:40 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Located in Hartford, Connecticut.
