Special Education Teacher in Hartford, CT

A contract position is available for a Special Education Teacher to support a self-contained SEL program at a middle school located in Watertown, CT. This role is ideal for educators committed to fostering inclusive classroom environments and delivering personalized learning experiences. The program serves approximately five students, offering a focused, supportive setting conducive to student growth and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students' unique learning needs
• Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure comprehensive student support
• Facilitate social-emotional learning (SEL) to promote positive behavior and interpersonal skills
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
• Maintain accurate records and comply with all regulatory requirements related to special education

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience working in a middle school setting, preferably with self-contained classrooms
• Strong knowledge of SEL principles and strategies
• Ability to manage a small group of students effectively
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Work Schedule and Location:

• Full-time contract position for the current school year (CSY)
• Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 2:40 PM
• Located in Watertown, Connecticut
