Special Education Teacher - Harvey, LA

An opportunity is available for experienced Special Education Teachers to support K-12 students in public schools located in Harvey, LA. This contract position offers a chance to work within Jefferson Parish schools from ASAP through May 22, 2026. Educators will contribute to personalized learning plans and promote inclusive environments suited to diverse special education needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student goals for K-12 learners
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff to enhance student development
• Monitor and document student progress through assessments and reporting
• Ensure compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and state regulations
• Foster a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and success

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Louisiana Department of Education Special Education certification required
• Experience teaching special education across various K-12 grade levels preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage caseloads effectively and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual needs
• Candidates must be currently certified and eligible to begin immediately (no pending licensing processes)

Schedule & Location:

• 35 hours per week (7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
• Location: Harvey, LA area schools within Jefferson Parish
• Contract length: Current School Year (CSY) through May 22, 2026
