A school district in Joliet, IL, is seeking a Junior High Special Education Teacher for a contract position through the current school year. This role focuses on supporting middle school students who require specialized academic and therapeutic assistance.

The candidate will design and implement individualized instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals, collaborating closely with social workers, therapists, behavior specialists, paraprofessionals, and families. Experience in delivering differentiated instruction in a structured, trauma-informed classroom environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction tailored to IEP goals and state standards
  • Establish and maintain a supportive, structured classroom setting
  • Apply behavior management strategies rooted in trauma-informed practices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and families to support student needs
  • Develop, update, and manage IEPs, progress reports, and related documentation
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings and team discussions
  • Monitor student progress and modify instruction as needed

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • LBS1 endorsement required
  • Experience working with students needing both academic and therapeutic support in a special education setting
