Special Ed Teacher - Mason, Ohio

A Special Education Teacher is needed to support a high-functioning 6th-grade student with autism in an elementary school setting. This full-time contract position, located in Mason, OH, offers an opportunity to provide focused, individualized support primarily on a 1:1 basis. The role includes assisting with reading service minutes while adapting to the unique needs of the student who is accompanied by a service dog.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction and support tailored to a high-functioning autism student.
• Provide 1:1 assistance to facilitate the student’s educational progress.
• Support reading service minutes as part of the student’s individualized education plan.
• Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure consistent student development.
• Manage the classroom environment, including accommodating the presence of a service dog.
• Maintain clear documentation of student progress and participate in relevant meetings.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably 6th grade.
• Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders, particularly high-functioning students.
• Comfort and capability to work alongside a service dog in the classroom.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work full-time hours, approximately 7:30 AM to 2:25 PM daily.
