Special Education Teacher in Metairie, LA

This opportunity is for a full-time Special Education Teacher to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student in a K-12 school setting. The position is based in Metairie, LA, within the Jefferson Parish school district, serving students in a 1:1 special education environment. The contract runs from ASAP through May 22, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction and support to a student in a one-on-one setting
• Collaborate with school staff and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed to meet educational goals
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines
• Foster a positive and supportive learning environment tailored to the student’s needs

Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana Department of Education Special Education certification (not expired or pending renewal)
• Experience working with K-12 students in special education, preferably in a 1:1 capacity
• Ability to effectively manage and adapt instruction to individual student needs
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with educators, families, and support staff
• Ready to begin work immediately and support student success from day one

Work Schedule and Location:

• Full-time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
• Monday through Friday following the school calendar
• Position located in Metairie, Louisiana
