A K-12 Special Education Teacher position is available to support diverse learners within a contract role for the full school year. This opportunity includes two distinct special education teaching roles providing direct instruction and support to students with individualized needs.
Role 1 focuses on Early Childhood Special Education (EC SPED), working closely with young learners to develop foundational skills and promote inclusive education. Role 2 involves teaching high school students aged 15 to 19 within a specialized setting, tailoring instructional strategies to meet the academic and developmental goals of adolescents with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Deliver differentiated, evidence-based instruction aligned with student goals
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, counselors, and families
- Maintain detailed documentation and participate in team meetings and parent conferences
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certification with special education endorsement
- Experience working with early childhood special education learners and high school-aged students
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and best practices
- Ability to create engaging, supportive, and inclusive learning environments
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
