An educational role is available for a Special Education Teacher to cover a maternity leave through December 1, 2025, serving students in grades 6-8 at the middle school level in New Bedford, MA. This contract position offers a collaborative and supportive environment focused on meeting diverse student needs through both push-in and pull-out services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of 25-30 students requiring special education services.
- Provide targeted instruction in reading, writing, and phonics, utilizing Wilson’s Reading System.
- Deliver both push-in support within general education classrooms and pull-out group instruction.
- Monitor student progress and adapt instruction to meet individual learning goals.
- Collaborate with school staff to support student success and comply with IEP requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a Special Education Teacher or Reading Specialist.
- Experience working with middle school students, specifically grades 6 through 8.
- Proficiency in Wilson’s Reading System or similar phonics-based instructional methods.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to deliver differentiated instruction both in group settings and one-on-one.
Schedule and Location:
- Part-time, 4 to 8 hours per day, Monday through Thursday.
- Position located in New Bedford, MA.
