A school in New Castle, Indiana is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to manage a self-contained classroom for middle school students, grades 5th through 8th. This contract position spans the current school year and offers a unique opportunity to work closely with a small group of approximately 10 students, with fewer students attending during afternoon sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the needs of students with mild or intense intervention requirements.
  • Manage daily classroom activities and maintain a supportive learning environment for students aged 10–14.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and related service providers to support student progress and well-being.
  • Monitor student performance and adjust teaching methods to maximize growth and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with all educational policies and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Valid Indiana Teacher’s license or eligibility to obtain a valid license or permit in Mild or Intense Interventions.
  • Experience working with middle school students in a special education setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.

Location: New Castle, Indiana (serving Delaware and Blackford regions, as well as Muncie, IN)
