A middle school Special Education Teacher opportunity is available for a contract position in New Haven, CT, supporting students with diverse learning needs. This role is ideal for educators experienced in creating individualized education programs and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Collaborating with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to accommodate students’ unique learning requirements
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies accordingly
- Managing classroom behavior and promoting a positive learning atmosphere
- Communicating regularly with families and school personnel about student achievements and challenges
Qualifications and experience sought:
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience teaching middle school-aged students
- Knowledge of special education laws, practices, and instructional techniques
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
