A K-12 educational institution in New Haven, CT is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher with dual certification to serve students in grades 7-12 at an alternative school setting. This is a full-time contract position for the current school year, offering an opportunity to impact the learning journey of students requiring specialized instructional support.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique learning needs of students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create supportive, inclusive classroom environments.
  • Utilize effective teaching strategies and adapt curriculum to promote student engagement and academic achievement.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional methods as necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with families, staff, and administration to report on student development.

Qualifications:

  • Dual certification in Special Education and a related teaching field.
  • Experience working with K-12 students, particularly grades 7-12.
  • Strong knowledge of alternative education programs and specialized instructional techniques.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusive education and student success.
