An exciting teaching opportunity is available now for a skilled special education professional in an elementary school setting in New Haven, CT. This contract position covers a maternity leave from November 25 until the first week of April, serving a caseload of 15 students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 9 community peers. This role is integral to supporting the learning and developmental goals of students receiving special education services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collecting data to monitor progress on IEP goals and Early Learning Development Standards (ELDS)
- Developing and implementing IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Presenting and actively participating in IEP meetings to advocate for student needs
- Providing oversight and guidance to paraeducators supporting classroom activities
- Facilitating regular communication with parents to keep them informed and engaged
- Creating and delivering developmentally appropriate pre-kindergarten lessons
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Certified Special Education Teacher with expertise in elementary education
- Experience managing a variety of student needs and collaborating with educators and families
- Proficiency in IEP development and compliance
- Strong data collection and reporting skills related to student progress
- Ability to lead and support paraeducator staff effectively
- Excellent communication skills with both parents and educational teams
