Special Education Teacher in New Haven, CT

A part-time Special Education Teacher opportunity is available in a high school setting located in New Haven, CT. This contract position is designed to support a caseload of approximately 12-15 students in grades 9-12. The role focuses on delivering individualized educational support within the special education framework, fostering student development and academic achievement.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement specialized instructional plans tailored to the unique needs of high school students with disabilities.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure comprehensive support.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior.
• Participate in meetings and professional development as required.

Schedule:

• Mondays: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Wednesdays: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Fridays: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM *Note: Schedule may undergo slight adjustments in January with class shifts.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification.
• Experience working with high school students in a special education setting.
• Ability to manage a caseload of 12-15 students effectively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
