A contract position is available for a Special Education Teacher to provide substitute coverage during a medical leave in Norwich, CT. This role involves delivering specialized resource services to a caseload of 16 second and third-grade students.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing special education resource support tailored to students’ individual needs
- Collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Monitoring student progress and adapting instructional methods accordingly
- Participating in overlap and shadowing for two days prior to and after the assignment for smooth transition
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Valid special education teaching certification
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably grades 2 and 3
- Strong understanding of special education laws, IEP development, and implementation
- Ability to manage multiple student needs within a resource setting
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Location and schedule:
- Norwich, Connecticut
- Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM to 3:45 PM
- Contract period: January 21 through March 11, including two additional days for transition
