A school district in Rhode Island is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support an 8th-grade sub-separate classroom serving students with intellectual disabilities. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with a small caseload of four students, providing highly individualized instruction tailored to each student’s unique needs.

The role involves collaboration with support staff and related service providers to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that fosters student growth and success. The ideal candidate is passionate about education and committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized instruction tailored to the educational goals and abilities of students with intellectual disabilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to maximize learning outcomes
  • Work closely with support staff and therapists to coordinate services and interventions
  • Maintain detailed documentation and communicate regularly with families and school personnel

Qualifications:

  • Valid Rhode Island Moderate (Grades 5–12) or Severe Special Education Teaching License required
  • Out-of-state licenses will be considered, with potential for reciprocal licensing
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities preferred

  • Elementary school setting in Pawtucket, Rhode Island
