Special Education Teacher in Portland, OR

A full-time Special Education Teacher opportunity is available in Portland, OR, serving students from 8th grade through 21 years old in a K-12 public school setting. This contract position offers a comprehensive caseload focused on high school and transition-aged students, providing specialized instruction and support to approximately 13 students with the assistance of six instructional assistants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction to students with diverse learning needs in grades 8 through 21.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state guidelines.
• Collaborate with instructional assistants to optimize learning outcomes.
• Support transition planning and life skills development for students preparing to move toward post-secondary life.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate progress with families and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:

• Valid Oregon Teaching License with a Special Education Endorsement.
• Experience working with high school and transition-age students preferred.
• Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 13 students.
• Strong collaborative and organizational skills.

Location: Portland, Oregon
Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
