A school district in Providence, RI is seeking a Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in a sub-separate classroom setting. This contract position focuses on eighth-grade students with intellectual disabilities, offering a caseload of four students. The role allows for personalized, individualized instruction driven by a collaborative approach with support staff and related service providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans to meet the unique needs of students with intellectual disabilities
- Collaborate with support staff and related service providers to enhance student growth and achievement
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as needed for optimal outcomes
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning
Qualifications:
- Valid Rhode Island Moderate (5–12) or Severe Special Education Teaching License required
- Candidates with out-of-state licenses will be considered and encouraged to apply
- Experience working with students who have intellectual disabilities is highly desirable
