An onsite Special Education Teacher is needed for a full-time contract position at an elementary school in St. George, South Carolina, located about 45 minutes from Charleston. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special needs while working in a supportive environment with multiple teaching assistants.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and deliver specialized instruction to a K-5 caseload of approximately 23 students
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and general education staff to support individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Adapt classroom materials and lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with district and state guidelines
  • Conduct assessments and participate in parent and team meetings to ensure comprehensive support for each student
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment promoting the social, emotional, and academic growth of all learners

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with staff, students, and families
  • Ability to manage a moderate caseload and coordinate with multiple teaching assistants

Location:

  • Elementary school in St. George, South Carolina (approximately 45 minutes from Charleston)

Position Details:

  • Full-time onsite position
  • 40 hours per week
  • Contract term from ASAP through the end of the school year (EOSY)
