This Special Education teaching opportunity is focused on supporting complex learners in an elementary school setting, working with students from Kindergarten through 5th grade who have Autism and other cognitive disorders. The role involves delivering personalized instruction aimed at improving academic performance and developing critical skills tailored to each student's unique needs. Classrooms typically include around seven students, supported by three paraprofessionals. Students are complex communicators requiring guidance across Academics, Functional Skills, Adaptive Skills, and Social/Emotional Learning domains.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement instruction plans that address academic and individual learning goals for complex learners
- Write and manage Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with related services and support staff
- Provide targeted instruction in social, emotional, functional, and adaptive skills
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to ensure effective support and classroom management
- Monitor progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet student needs
Qualifications:
- Must hold a Tier 3 Minnesota Department of Education License in Special Education
- Experience in working with students with Autism and cognitive challenges preferred
- Ability to write and execute compliant IEPs and work in a team with related services providers
