A Special Education teaching opportunity is available in Queensbury, NY, located about 45 minutes north of Albany. This fully onsite position supports a private school environment serving 78 students across 10 self-contained classrooms. The student population primarily consists of individuals with Level 3 autism, severe cognitive disabilities, and significant behavioral challenges. Most students use alternative communication methods and are non-verbal, emphasizing the need for skilled, compassionate educators.
There are openings for both Secondary (High School/Adult) and Intermediate (Middle School) Special Education teaching roles. Secondary positions focus on pre-vocational students up to adult age, while Intermediate roles include a mix of pre-vocational and more academically centered students.

Qualifications:
- NY Special Education license (Students with Disabilities) required
- Bachelor’s degree candidates considered; master’s degree strongly preferred
- Experience with Level 3 autism, severe behaviors, alternative communication methods, and medical needs highly desired
- Familiarity with alternative assessments and curriculum modification a strong plus
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to support students’ cognitive and communication abilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support
- Track student progress and complete necessary paperwork, including IEP documentation
- Support pre-vocational and academic learning in a self-contained classroom setting
This position offers approved time for early arrivals and late stayers—up to 40 hours weekly—to manage planning and paperwork effectively.
