A full-time licensed Special Education Teacher is needed to support a middle school LINKS program that serves students with significant support needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This contract position starts ASAP and runs through the end of the school year, with potential for extension.

Located in Springfield, MA, the role involves being the teacher of record in classrooms that serve six students each, supported by paraprofessionals and dedicated 1:1 staff. The teacher will provide instructional leadership, implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate closely with support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the licensed teacher of record for LINKS program students with special needs
  • Implement and monitor IEPs tailored to each student’s requirements
  • Provide instructional leadership and coordinate with paraprofessionals and 1:1 aides
  • Support students with ASD and sensory needs, including managing toileting and self-injurious behaviors (SIB)
  • Maintain clear communication with school staff and ensure timely arrival and departure

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Licensed Special Education Teacher in Massachusetts
  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Skilled in providing toileting support and managing sensory needs
  • Experience supporting students exhibiting self-injurious behaviors (SIB)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team of paraprofessionals and aides
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality required
  • Must pass drug screening, fingerprinting, and background/CORI check
