An elementary school in Springfield, OH, is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for a contract position during the current school year (CSY). This role requires an Ohio Intervention Specialist license and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with disabilities.
Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Intervention Specialist License (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or K-12 based on student needs)
- Strong knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes
- Experience implementing individualized instruction, accommodations, and modifications
- Proficiency in progress monitoring, data collection, and formative assessments
- Skills in behavior management and intervention strategies
- Effective collaboration with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Strong communication and documentation abilities
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related fields
- Experience with inclusive education, co-teaching, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Training in PBIS and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development
- Familiarity with assistive technology, adaptive curriculum tools, and intervention programs
- Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards Extended (OLSE) for students with significant cognitive disabilities
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities (valued but not required)
Primary responsibilities will focus on developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs, providing direct instruction and intervention, adapting curriculum to meet student needs, collaborating with general education staff, behavior management, facilitating required meetings and reporting, and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
