Special Education Teacher in Sterling Heights, MI

A Special Education Teacher is needed for a K-12 school in Sterling Heights, MI, to provide exceptional instructional support throughout the academic year on a contract basis. This role involves working closely with students with diverse learning needs, ensuring individualized educational plans (IEPs) are implemented effectively, and collaborating with paraeducators and other staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans that meet state standards and individual student needs.
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed to achieve learning goals.
• Collaborate with three paraeducators to support student engagement and classroom management.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with parents and school staff.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and reporting requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification for K-12.
• Experience working with students who have a range of disabilities and learning challenges.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with paraeducators and multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
• Ability to create a positive and supportive classroom environment.
