A Special Education Teacher is sought for a K-12 school in Columbus, OH, to provide specialized instruction and support in a Cross-categorical resource room setting. This contract position runs through the current school year, with an immediate start date and an end date of May 29th.
Work hours are from 8:20 AM to 4:10 PM, serving a caseload primarily composed of K-2 students, with up to 12 students on the caseload (typically around 8). The classroom consists largely of students with autism and developmental disabilities, supported by at least one paraprofessional.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with varying disabilities in a resource room setting
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with educational standards and student individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Write, revise, and maintain IEPs, ensuring compliance and accuracy
- Monitor student progress regularly and prepare detailed quarterly reports
- Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings with parents, specialists, and support staff
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to create a supportive and productive classroom environment
- Support students during specials as needed while promoting social and academic growth
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification or licensure
- Experience working with K-2 students with autism and developmental disabilities preferred
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and compliance requirements
- Excellent classroom management and instructional planning skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with support staff and families
- Effective communication and organizational abilities
