A Special Education teacher is sought for a K-12 setting specializing as an Intervention Specialist. This contract position is based in Westerville, OH, with a school-year duration from ASAP through May 29th. The work schedule runs from 8:20 AM to 4:10 PM.
This role involves managing a Cross-categorical resource room serving primarily K-2 students, with a typical caseload of 8 to 12 students. Many students have autism or developmental disabilities and spend most of their day in the resource room, occasionally joining their peers for specials. A paraprofessional will support daily classroom activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the classroom environment and routine daily operations
- Developing and implementing lesson plans tailored to student needs
- Writing and updating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitoring and documenting student progress with quarterly reports
- Leading IEP meetings in collaboration with families and service providers
- Supporting social and academic growth of students with diverse learning challenges
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Certification in Special Education or Intervention Specialist credentials
- Experience working with young students (K-2) with autism or developmental disabilities
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and compliance
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams
