Special Ed Teacher - Terryville, Connecticut

This contract position is for a Special Education Teacher to support a resource classroom serving approximately 20 students in grades K-12 within a middle school setting, specifically working with sixth graders. The assignment begins around May 4th and continues until the end of the school year in mid-June, covering a maternity leave absence.

Responsibilities include managing a caseload of students in a resource special education classroom, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborating with general education staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications. Delivering targeted instruction tailored to student needs within a supportive learning environment is essential.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

• Certification in Special Education
• Experience working with middle school students, especially sixth grade
• Familiarity with resource room teaching models
• Wilson Reading System training is highly desired, though not mandatory
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to develop effective instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs
