Located in Twain Harte, CA, this opportunity offers an engaging role as a Special Education Teacher within an elementary school setting. This position focuses on serving students primarily in 2nd through 4th grades, encompassing both mild/moderate and moderate/severe classroom environments. The role is a contract position for the current school year (CSY), providing a structured schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to students with primary and emotional disabilities.
- Managing a Nexus Program classroom with 2 to 8 students, with a maximum capacity of 10.
- Collaborating closely with three para-professionals to support students’ individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Utilizing effective behavior management and instructional strategies to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching credentials with experience in mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities.
- Skilled in working with young students exhibiting emotional disabilities within a structured classroom setting.
- Knowledgeable in Nexus Program curriculum and implementation.
- Ability to collaborate efficiently with para-professionals and other educational staff.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to support student development and classroom management.
