Special Education Teacher - Warren, MI

An opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher specializing in Elementary Autism support at a school in Warren, Michigan. This contract position spans the current school year, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact within a supportive educational environment.

Schedule: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Duration: Current School Year (Contract)
Caseload: Currently 5 students, with a capacity for up to 7
Professional Development: Required on August 20 and 21; student instruction begins August 25

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instructional support tailored to students with autism within an elementary classroom setting
• Collaborate closely with two experienced paraeducators who provide daily classroom support
• Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Maintain ongoing communication with school leadership and participate in regular team meetings

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Special Education teaching license (any MI SPED license accepted)
• Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably with autism spectrum disorder
• Ability to effectively manage a small caseload of diverse learners with individualized learning needs
• Strong collaborative skills to work alongside paras and administrative staff
